Welcome to the end of the school week! Three day weekends are always a treat, and I hope you have something nice in store. Band Notes for this week are below: All Bands *Special thanks to the Jazz Band for their wonderful performance at the Veteran’s Day assembly that we had at Skyridge this afternoon! You all sounded so great: thank you for your hard work in helping make the event so special for our students and staff. *Practice logs are due Nov. 29th. You can download the November practice log here. *Band Projects are due on Dec. 2nd. Please remember that not all Band Projects have forms that go along with them. You can check the Band Project section of the grading policy to see the details of each project option. *Our Winter Concert is on Dec. 15th at the CHS Theater. *Reminder: concert dress requirements have changed as of the beginning of this year. Please make sure to acquaint yourself with our new concert dress guidelines. *Thanks for your diligence in keeping the room clean! We’ve been doing a much better job of picking up after ourselves. Keep up the great work! *If you ever need to refer to previous Band Notes, they’re always available in the Skyward Message Center. *Special thanks to those students who made the trek over hill and dale to see Once Upon A Mattress last week. We have one show tonight and then two on Saturday. Check the Lakeridge High School Theatre page for ticket information. Be sure to check in with me so that you can receive Band Project credit! 6th Grade Band *What great progress you’ve made in the past couple weeks! I’m really pleased to see that many students are putting in more time than the practice logs require, and that’s fantastic. I’m looking forward to your debut in December! *When you practice at home, always push yourself a little more each time. Play a line in the book and then try and take it a little faster until you can play it perfectly. Always strive for good tone, steady beat, and precise rhythms. And always use a metronome! 7th and 8th Grade Bands *Sightreading continues to improve! Your hard work is paying off--thank you! * “I forgot my instrument” is something that I’ve been hearing a lot more than I’d like to the past couple weeks. Part of your participation grade has been based on your ability to bring all necessary materials to class. I’ve been somewhat lenient as of late, but next week I’ll have to start docking points from students who are not bringing their instruments to class. Not bringing your instrument automatically gets you 2.5 out of 5 points for the day, so please make sure to come prepared to class each day. ******************** That’s all for this time. As usual, I’ll be away from E-Mail until Monday morning. Enjoy your three day weekend, and thanks for making Skyridge a great place to make music! Comments are closed.
