Band Notes for 1/20/17
Happy Friday! It’s been a little while, but below you’ll find this week’s edition of Band Notes. All bands During class yesterday, I spoke with all the Skyridge bands about the recent concert and grading. Thank you to those who were able to make it, and for those who weren’t, I totally understand! It was messy out there and downright impossible for some folks to travel safely. Special shout out to the families who helped transport kids to the concert. I was very pleased with all our bands, and am looking forward to our Spring concert in a few months. I had a chat with the administration, and we decided that the best thing to do because of the unusual circumstances is to simply remove the concert grade from Skyward, so it won’t appear as an assignment any longer. This will happen sometime in the next few days. Of course, it won’t affect any students’ grades negatively. Thanks for your understanding as we try and get on our feet after the crazy weather that plagued us the past few weeks. We have six students who were selected to play in the North County Honor Band: Laura Burton, Cat Lind, Lucas Mansfield, Jonathan Lightfoot, Akash Prasad, and Ingrid Larsen. They’ll be performing at Hockinson High School in the Auditorium (16819 NE 159th St., Brush Prairie, WA 98606) at 7 p.m. this Saturday, 1/21/2017. Students who attend can earn Band Project credit by bringing me a copy of the program from the concert. The concert is free to the public: make sure to come and support your fellow Skyhawks by wearing your school gear! Jazz Band The Clark Community College Jazz Festival is next week during the school day on Thursday, January 26th. We’re ironing out the rest of the bus details, but the Jazz Band is scheduled to perform at 9:35 a.m. We will be back by the end of school. If we make it into the finals, then we’ll be headed back to CCC on a bus that leaves from Skyridge, perform sometime during the 4 o’clock hour, and then parents will need to pick up students/arrange a carpool from CCC at that time. But again, that’s all dependant upon if the band makes it to the finals or not. That’s the long a short of it, but more details will follow early next week once we get the bus schedule set. Closing That’s all for now! Enjoy your weekend (not that we really need another one!), and I’m looking forward to getting into a normal routine on Monday. Comments are closed.
